Staywatt
It's that simple

From order to the first kWh in 3 steps

You order, your installer clicks the module in place, and your guests buy electricity in the app. Everything after that is done with your phone.

1

Order and pair

Create an account and order your module or modules. We link each module to your property before we ship it. Unpacking is all you need to do.

2

Install and activate

The module clicks onto the rail in the meter cabinet, according to our drawing. We recommend having an accredited installer do this; for him it's a job of approximately one hour. You switch it on yourself afterwards via bluetooth.

3

Guests buy kWh

Guests see their balance and consumption live in the app and buy kWh in advance, at your kWh price.

Staywatt Charge

And your guest's car

A charging pole is, for us, an object like a cottage: it gets its own QR code and its own kWh price. Charging current may be more expensive than household current — you decide that per pole.

If your guest is staying with you, he doesn't need to do anything extra: he scans the code on the pole and charges from the same credit. On his overview, the house and the car are listed separately, so he can see where the electricity went.

Also for those not staying here

Someone who only comes to charge — a day visitor, a guest of your restaurant — signs up with just an email address and a code from his email. No charging card, no subscription, no app to install.

  • If your guest forgets to stop charging, it stops automatically at the end of his stay
  • If a pole is in use, he scans the next one — the session moves with it
  • If nobody is using a pole, that pole is switched off

What happens when the balance runs out?

The electricity switches off until your guest buys new credit. Important circuits always stay on. Your guest receives notice well in advance when the balance is low, so this rarely happens unexpectedly.

  • Notice of low balance, on your guest's phone
  • An always-on circuit for fridge, freezer, wifi and emergency lighting
  • Electricity restored immediately once they top up
  • In case of a fault, nothing switches off at all

You set the kWh price

You decide yourself what a kWh costs at your place. What your guests buy is paid out to you; afterwards you receive one monthly statement from us with a breakdown per property.

No more surprises in the energy bill for your rental: your guests pay for what they use.

Step by step

  1. Check how many modules you need

In your meter cabinet there are rows of buttons. Each row is called a circuit: the kitchen is a circuit, the lights are a circuit. One module monitors four circuits, and almost everyone has enough with that. Our selection tool asks three questions and works it out for you.

  2. Order in the webshop

You order when you create your account. We link each module to your property before we ship it and put on the box which property it's for. Mix-up is impossible, even if you order three at the same time.

  3. Have it installed

The box goes onto the rail in the meter cabinet, just like the other components, and four wires go on according to the drawing. We recommend having an accredited installer do this: it is work behind the main switch, and your insurance and the installation standard depend on it. A drawing is included in the box and the same drawing is on the website — you can send it to him beforehand; for him it's a job of approximately one hour.

  4. Turn it on with your phone

Open the app next to the meter cabinet and tap activate. The app finds the module via bluetooth, you choose your wifi and type the password. You don't have to type anything else: we already know which module is yours. After that the app runs a self-test — each channel on and off, measured value visible, fridge circuit stays on — and then your property is live.

  5. Hang up the sign

You get a QR sign to put in the property, to print yourself or order from us. That sign is all your guest needs: they scan, come into the app and can buy.

  6. Go through the guest flow yourself once

Before anyone arrives, you run through it yourself with test credit. You see exactly what your guest sees — and you're sure it works before you hand it over to someone else.

And then

Your guest scans the code, buys electricity and sees their consumption live. If credit runs out, they automatically get a message that they can top up. You don't need to do anything.

At the end of the month you receive one invoice from us: your subscription plus a small markup on the kWh your guests have purchased, with a specification per property. Nothing more — and never a debit that you didn't see coming.

You enter reservations manually, or you link your calendar from Airbnb, Booking or Google. If you have a reservation system, we connect directly to it and everything happens automatically.
