Who is behind Staywatt
We turn electricity into an ordinary line item on the invoice: your guest pays what he uses, and you don't have to do anything else.
Where this comes from
Whoever rents out accommodation short-term pays for his guests' electricity. That worked fine for years when a week in a house meant a lamp and a fridge. By now the air conditioning is on with windows open, a car is charging outside, and the sauna is running one last time on the final evening — and that bill comes to you.
The usual solutions are both bad. A fixed amount per night penalizes the thrifty guest and invites the rest. Checking the meter reading afterwards leads to a conversation at checkout, precisely when you want a good review.
Staywatt removes that conversation. Your guest sees what he uses while he uses it, and settles up himself. No argument at key handover, no follow-up bill by email.
What it is
A box in your meter cabinet that measures and switches per circuit. An app in which your guest buys electricity. And a QR code in the accommodation that ties those two together.
When the credit runs out, the regular circuits switch off: the lights, the outlets, the air conditioning. The fridge circuit always stays on. That is not a setting you can forget but the core of how the thing is built — nobody comes home to spoiled food because a guest forgot to top up.
In case of a fault or broken connection, nothing switches off. The box remembers its state and its meter reading, and in case of doubt the electricity stays on. That is intentionally the wrong way to fail: better once electricity that is not accounted for than a guest without light because wifi is stuttering.
For whom
For one holiday home just as much as for a park with five hundred houses. The difference is in what you need with it: with one house you order a box and you are done, with a park we link your booking system so your reception does not have work to do.
If you only have charging stations and no houses — a homeowners' association, a hotel, a sports club — the same system works. For us, every station is its own object with its own QR code and its own rate.
What we don't do
We never write anything off your invoice. You get a bill with a payment link every month in arrears; you pay it yourself when you have seen it. There is no direct debit mandate, in no part of this system.
We do not set your price either. You set what a kWh costs with you; we add a small markup and that appears as a separate line on your monthly invoice. So you always see what is yours and what is ours.
And we do not sell your data to anyone. What your guest buys is our business only insofar as we have to measure and invoice it.
