Guests pay for their own electricity.
Automatically.
Prepaid energy for holiday rentals: your guest buys kWh on his phone, sees his consumption in real time, and when the balance is empty, the power switches off neatly — the fridge stays on. You rent, Staywatt measures and settles.
No meter cupboard renovation · CE-certified metering module · you keep your own kWh price
Three steps, no electrician jargon
Order and pair
Create your account and order the module in one go. We pair it with your property before it leaves our door — unboxing is all you need to do.
Click and activate
The module clicks onto the rail in the meter cabinet, just like the other units. We recommend having a certified installer do this; you can send the drawing directly to them. After that, you open the app, hold your phone next to it and switch it on via Bluetooth.
Guests pay themselves
Your guest receives a code at check-in, buys kWh at your price and pays directly. You get one overview from us each month.
One module per property. Done.
A professional metering module for 4 groups, set and sealed by us. The always-on group — fridge, freezer, wifi and emergency lighting — stays outside the switchoff.
- € 189,00 per module, including pairing with your account
- To be installed by a certified installer (approximately one hour)
- Spare module always within 2 days
You choose your own kWh price. We calculate € 0,02 per kWh sold.
Plus a small fixed amount per property per month. Large parks pay one fixed monthly amount for the entire park. No setup costs except hardware; monthly cancellation possible.
€ 24,99 per property per month
Plus € 0,02 per kWh sold, automatically processed in the price your guest pays. For 1 to 25 properties.
one fixed monthly amount
For parks and managers from 25 properties onwards, including park dashboard, reception functions and integration with your booking system.
So simple it gets boring
The module clicks onto the rail in the meter cabinet and is then switched on with the app. We recommend having it installed by a certified installer — for them it's a job of approximately one hour, and you can send the drawing to them beforehand.
What landlords tell us
"I simply charge a fixed amount per night"
That works, until it doesn't. The amount is too low in a cold week and too high for the guest who's hardly there — and that second one leaves a review. If you charge by consumption, you don't need to adjust the amount every season.
Fixed amount or actual consumption →"I read the meter when the guest checks out"
Then you're with your guest at the meter cabinet when he wants to leave. And to be allowed to charge based on a meter reading, the meter must be calibrated — a loose interim meter from a DIY store usually isn't.
Why the meter must be calibrated →"There's a charging point, but nobody pays for it"
Charging a car is soon more electricity than the rest of the week combined. Staywatt Charge lets that same guest with the same code also pay for their charging electricity — without a charging card and without a subscription.
Making your guest pay for charging →Why you can verify us
Under each topic in the knowledge base is where it comes from. For charging based on a meter reading, that's the European Measuring Instruments Directive and RDI supervision; for what you can pass on to a tenant or guest, the ACM and the Rental Commission; for VAT, the Tax Authority; for what's allowed in a meter cabinet, the installation standard NEN 1010; and for consumption figures, the CBS. No summary of a summary: the source is there so you can look it up yourself.
The texts in the knowledge base are written with AI, go through technical review and are only published after a person has approved them. Nothing goes live automatically. See how we work.
What this is not: we are not an energy supplier and do not sell you electricity — you buy that from your own supplier, and Staywatt only measures and settles what your guest uses from it. We also do not provide legal or tax advice and do not judge whether you are allowed to pass on costs in your situation; that depends on your own contract, your rental agreement and sometimes on your park or homeowners association rules. What is stated here is general explanation with the source included, not a judgment on your case.
