During installation you perform a self-test that checks whether each group is properly connected; you can repeat it later if you have doubts. While your guest is staying, you see how consumption logically grows compared to purchased credit, and your guest sees this as well directly on their phone. When credit runs out, electricity switches off, except for the always-on group with the refrigerator and wifi; and in case of a fault in the module itself, conversely, nothing switches off. Noticeable consumption differences usually arise due to guest behavior, not due to the module.
