Staywatt
For guests

You pay for your own electricity. Here's how it works.

You are staying in an accommodation where electricity is billed separately. You buy kilowatt hours in advance, you see continuously what you consume, and you do not pay towards the consumption of the guest before you.

What you need to do

Scan the QR code displayed in the accommodation. You will arrive at a page showing how much credit is left and what you are currently consuming. You can also purchase there — with iDEAL or a card, without an account and without a password.

We do not ask for your name. The credit belongs to the accommodation and not to you; whoever comes after you will start with what they purchase themselves.

What you see

Your credit in kilowatt hours, what is currently running, and what you have consumed today. No estimates afterwards and no surprises at checkout: you see it while you are there.

Your landlord sets the price per kilowatt hour, not us. This is shown on the screen before you purchase.

When the credit runs out

You will be notified before that happens. Should the credit run out anyway, the circuits that your landlord has designated will be cut off — usually the power outlets and lighting.

The refrigerator, the router and the heating remain on. This circuit never falls under the disconnection; this is not something your landlord can switch off. Your food will not spoil because your credit has run out.

If you purchase more, the electricity returns within seconds. You do not need to call anyone or reset anything.

If something is not right

If you see consumption that cannot be yours, or the electricity goes off while there is credit, report it to your landlord — he can see in his overview what the meter has done and can check it. If the refrigerator circuit also goes out, something else is wrong than an empty credit; that should not be possible.

If you and your landlord cannot figure it out, you can also reach us directly: office@staywatt.eu.

What we record about you

The consumption and credit of the accommodation where you are staying, and the payment with which you purchased that credit. No name, no account, no profile. What exactly happens to that data is stated in the privacy statement.
